2021年 黑潮海洋文教基金會開始進行抹香鯨Photo-ID個體辨識**2015年 嘉義東石港外海抹香鯨活體擱淺經救援，3日後仍被發現死亡於八掌溪出海口。**2004年 臺南鯨爆事件1954年 目前已知最大的龍涎香於期刊發表1851年 以捕鯨為背景的長篇小說《白鯨記》出版1810年 令捕鯨人頭痛且聞風喪膽的莫卡·迪克（Mocha Dick）1700～1840年 人們發現抹香鯨鯨脂煉製後油品優於其他鯨種，抹香鯨成為商業捕鯨的目標。
在海面上突然出現的漂流木......不是，是抹香鯨啦！牠在海面上的模樣真的太像一塊巨大的漂流木，討海人形容為「**棺材頭**」。
體長最大可達18公尺的牠，是**最大的齒鯨**所以也只有一個噴氣孔，在頭的左前方，連噴出的氣柱也會斜約45度角！在海上發現這樣的噴氣，幾乎就能確定是牠了。長相十分奇異的「棺材頭」，能下潛到超過1000米的深海，和獵物大王烏賊搏鬥！
